The OT-120 Orchestral Tuner

A chromatic tuner that has been optimized for the tuning of wind and string instruments. The new tuner boasts a wide calibration range  (from 349 to 499 Hz in 1 Hz steps)

With its vertical design, superior visibility and rear-panel stand, the OT-120 is equally suited for hand-held operation or placement on a music stand or table. It offers a high-precision needle-type meter to accurately indicate pitch, with a wide detection range of A0 (27.5 Hz) to C8 (4,186 Hz), and an accuracy of +/- 1.5 cent. Also featured are two flat/sharp LEDs and a comprehensive backlit LCD screen that shows battery level, sound output level, calibration, key, and note name.

The new OT-120 tuner features an aluminum housing, 1/4" input and output jacks and extended battery life (greater than 100 hours with two AAA batteries). An optional AC adapter is available. The body material has been specially selected to avoid the harsh sound produced by plastic. The moisture absorbent properties of this wood/paper composite has been left intact, no varnish is applied to combat swelling and seizure. As with cane, the reed body will absorb moisture naturally.
The simple pitch adjuster seal prevents seizure of the alloy screw and ensures an airtight seal. The Alloy helps to attract moisture away from the reed tongue, as moisture will condense on the coldest part of an object.
The combination of the specially selected bridle and silicone lock ensures stability of sound. The lock prevents movement of the bridle during play and absorbs any vibration that would otherwise pass.

The manual has been re-written by Principal Robert Wallace. The tutor comes complete with a new companion CD of instruction. It is the natural progression from the world beating Tutor 1, the Green Tutor. Tutor 3 provides an introduction to the playing of competition marches, strathspeys, reels, hornpipes and jigs. There are also tunes for dancing and lessons on standard pieces such as Scotland the Brave and Flowers of the Forest. With Tutor 1, Tutor 3 has all the tunes and theory necessary to pass the light music sections of the Pipe and Drumming Qualifications Board Levels 1 - 4 examinations.

DIMENSIONS
The length of the pipe is 249mm and the diameter is 16mm. Despite the small dimensions this is a full-size chanter and the spacing of the contacts is the same as the spacing of the holes on a pipe chanter. The dimensions together with the low weight of approx. 60 grams, make this chanter very portable indeed.
