Scottish Regiments Commemorative Coin

This bronze / copper medallion is often referred to as a ‘Challenge Coin’. It is not an official award but a recognition symbol carried by current and former members of the last eight regiments in the Scottish Division of the British Army.

The front of the coin which is 1.5 inches in diameter is embossed with the former Divisional insignia of the Scottish Lion on the St Andrew’s Cross surrounded by the names of the 8 famous regiments - 6 regular and 2 Territorial Army (TA). At the top are the names of the Lowland Regiments in order of precedence: The Royal Scots, The Royal Highland Fusiliers, The King’s Own Scottish Borderers and the 52 Lowland Regiment T.A. (Formerly Volunteers).

Below are the Highland Regiments: The Black Watch, The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons), The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and the 51 Highland Regiment (formerly Volunteers). The Reverse is embossed with the badges of each regiment. In the centre is the slogan ‘Scotland Forever’ often used by many of the regiments when charging the enemy.

The coin is a great collectors item and part of a limited edition.
